New Adventures

My latest adventure is a 5K run in March. I started training late December. My goal is to finish, running the entire way if possible. This week, I am up to running 7 minute intervals.
I hope with the number of work trips that I might have in the next month that I'll still be able to get my training in.
My perk for all my hard work is a snowboarding vacation to Colorado in early March. It will be a great time of snowboarding and seeing my friend, Sherry.

The ankle is holding up pretty well. I have been icing and listening to my body very carefully.

Here's to new adventures...

1 year since surgery

Tomorrow will be 1 year since my surgery on my Achilles rupture. My life has changed so much since then- neither bad nor good- just change.
I am happy to report that I have been running for the past 2 weeks. I am contemplating a 5K in October. I'm glad that I've had this time in my life however I would not live it over again nor would I voluntarily chose this for my life. By far a ruptured Achilles is the worse injury to recover from, I am just glad that I was able to recover- physically; I am still working on the mental recovery from this event.

A new adventure

Tomorrow, I leave for San Francisco for work for the rest of the week. I think it is going to be a great way to turn 32 on Friday. This trip is making my birthday so much more entertaining. I post pictures and my adventures soon.

Day 223

I was released from doctor's care today.

It doesn't feel as great as I thought it would. It doesn't help that he wasn't very optimistic about my calf looking the same as before my injury. It was frustrating.

I gave myself 1 year. So, I'll see where I'm at in 5 months.

Day 157

It's been hard lately dealing with my ankle. It's snowing buckets in the mountains. I can't snowshoe or snowboard. Now having this injury is starting to get hard to deal with.
I did get released for aquacise. At least this will add some variety to my workout routine.
I wonder if I will be able to run a 5K this year...

Day 136

I'd say that my life is back to 'normal' but it's not. I see the doctor again this week. I can't believe that it's been over a month of walking on my own two feet. I have gained another cm in my calf. I have 3 cm left to go until my calves look the same.
My typical day is work and the gym. I have physical therapy twice a week still. My days at physical therapy have gotten much harder.
The storm that just came in has given me a reality check that my ankle is not going to like cold weather. I've been doing ok with flexibility however this week if I sit on the couch for any period of time my ankle tightens up. It hurts to walk after that. And reminds me to go to the gym and do my physical therapy exercises. O so fun...

Day 108

Another milestone... I got my car back today. I missed my car, my radio and my power windows.
